Graduation days are here again!

In the spirit of graduation, my best friends from high school got together this weekend for a night of lots of laughs, memories, and updates on each of our lives. Since I kept EVERYTHING from high school (even my report cards -- ha), I brought along my scrapbooks and tons of old pics. We are going on 15 YEARS since our High School Graduation -- so so so hard to believe.

Here we are way back when:

Here we are now all grown up -- haven't changed a bit ;-):
So much fun catching up with everyone -- we are already making plans to get together again soon!

Before heading to Jackson, I also attended the graduation ceremonies at Mississippi State where my cousin Charleigh was graduating. Hard to believe she is graduating already. I can remember going to the hospital when she was born!

AND last but not least, my mom and I had the pleasure of hosting a senior party on Sunday night for our friend Bailey Hartness. Her mom, Maria, gave me a senior party when I was a senior so we wanted to do something for Bailey. We had a skating party at Skate Odyssey in Starkville and it was SOOOO fun! We hosted it with two other couples and we all skated and had the best time. I hadn't had on a pair of skates since my last visit to the same rink in 1992 and we skated to "My name is Luka, I live on the second floor" and "Sweet Child of Mine" -- wow, the music has changed!! The kids had fun too!!! They were all so sweet and precious and it made me think of me when I was a senior, especially since I was just together with my high school b/f/f's "reliving" our glory days. Aaahhhh, the memories.
Some I would redo, but most I wouldn't -- made me who I am today, I guess!
Congrats to the Winston Academy Seniors 2010 and to sweet Charleigh Alford on her college graduation!

Garden Update

We have been spending LOTS of time in the garden lately and will continue to for the next SEVERAL months -- but it's going to be VERY FUN!!

Here is Reed "weedeater"ing
Our first corn sprouts
Rob, Reed, and Haley -- planting I don't even know what
(it will be interesting to see where everything ends up!)
To the right of where they are is a WHOLE ROW of zinnias -- can't wait for these to start blooming! Should have enough for the whole town of Louisville. I just hope they are still blooming by fair time.
TOMATOES!!!!!!!!!
Reed LOVES planting and gardening...
...just wish he liked knew how to pick weeds!
I'm going to post pics from our Buffalo Park Adventure -- hopefully tomorrow!

Puddles and Boots

Once we got home from our night away (and drove through the horrible weather that hit our area last weekend) Rob and I and the BBs were very ready to be outside. Rob and I hit our favorite garden center, Yarbrough's, for some plants! I got another snowball tree (b/c I love them so!) and two gorgeous ferns to hang on the breezeway.

Every year, I put geraniums in two big pots on our breezeway. I always go into the green house saying, "I am getting traditional red this year!!" This is what I came out with -- a new hot pink color -- so so pretty.
Hey, I live with three boys, I deserve some pink somewhere!!!
Because of all the heavy rains and bad weather that kept the boys in all morning, they were ready to be outside. The sun came out and it was a perfect 70 degrees and there were puddles EVERYWHERE. Boots went on and water started splashing.

They got so wet that the clothes finally came off...
Here they are picking me clover flowers...sweet sweet!
Reed has two HUGE blisters on his legs where the boots
(I am assuming in combination with all the water) rubbed his little legs!
Cute bootie!

AND the garden is almost totally planted! Rob has worked hard every night this week. We now have tomatoes, squash, butterbeans, black-eyed peas, corn (which is sprouting!!), watermelons, and cantaloupe in the ground. The cucumber plants weren't ready, but we should have them planted by the weekend. AND I have a WHOLE ROW of ZINNIAS my favorite and THE flower of summer!!

We also have lots of grass growing in the garden too -- Rob's dad is a master vegetable gardener and is going to pull out "THE NOTEBOOK" to give us some good ole gardening tips. Reed and Haley helped Rob do some planting too -- he said it would be interesting to see where everything is once it starts coming up.
Will post pics of progress soon.

Anniversary surprises!!!

Yesterday marked mine and Rob's seventh anniversary! I am trying to find a picture to put in this post, but since it was before we entered the digital age, it may be awhile.

However, he did surprise me with a trip to Greenwood to The Alluvian Hotel and dinner at Giardina's. When I got home from work on Friday (after a wonderful day of Dentistry from the Heart), my bag was packed and he would not tell me where in the world we were going! I didn't figure it out until we turned off to go to Greenwood. What a wonderful night away! We had a great time and even ran into a friend of Rob's from high school who's husband is the Executive Chef at Giardina's -- so much fun seeing her. We woke up Saturday morning and and ate a wonderful breakfast at the hotel. Another surprise -- Rob had gotten me a massage (which was heavenly)! Afterwards, we walked around downtown Greenwood which has some adorable shops. The headquarters of Viking is here, and although we didn't get to do a cooking school, we did see one going on and got to look around at lots of great Viking products. We made one purchase in Turn Row books -- this book, Delta Land, was in our room and I loved the pictures. The photographer's home was featured in O (Oprah's magazine) several years ago and I recognized the name. A neat book, especially since Rob is a delta boy himself. Must go back for another visit very soon!

The Viking store (their new commercial line) -- WOW!

Fun stuff at the Viking Store
Could have spent lots of $$
Actual cooking school going on
This is the sign inside Turn Row books -- if you will notice, it's the hood of a truck!

I am still in a little bit of shock of the whole trip -- what a great surprise by my wonderful and thoughtful husband. We've had seven years of laughter, fun, and although there will always be bumps along the road, I am so thankful to be married to my best friend!

I just realized we didn't take any pics of us! I will try to find
a wedding picture (where we are much younger) to post!!

Sitting Still

For people who know me, they know that I always have a project and almost never sit still (speaking of, I didn't get around to my armoire project, but for good reason!). After putting the boys down for a nap on Sunday, the weather was perfect, I thought to myself, I am going to sit outside and do NOTHING.

I constantly have to remind myself of this verse:
“Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world.” Psalm 46:10

It was too perfect of a day to not enjoy being outside -- this was the temperature.

This was my view from my comfy chair. I sat for an hour and a half and did nothing and LOVED it!

I went in and checked on the boys who were still sleeping (they ended up taking a 3 hour nap after playing with our company), so I walked around the yard and checked out the newest development in the garden -- we have CORN!!! Four rows to be exact!
I am hoping this weekend we can get everything else planted!
My knock-out roses are also blooming!

It was the perfect end to a fun filled weekend!

Super Bulldog weekend and super spend the night company!

Well, since Rob was out of town, I had decided not to brave SBW by myself with the little blonde boys, but when it's an opportunity to see friends I don't get to see very often, I was going to do my best to get there. When Allen and Nikki said they were coming, I thought I would at least try to meet up with them to visit and for our boys to play together since they are the exact same age. Saturday morning I asked Nikki if they wanted to spend the night and she said, "SURE!" So off we went to Starkville to pick her and her littlest boy Nash up, while Allen and Nicholas went to the spring football game.
This is the closest we got to the stadium --

-- but we did stand in line for about 15 minutes for Reed to do this...
...and for Luke to do this!!
I think the most fun they had was at our house playing!
This is Reed and Nicholas...
They loved each other and had SO much fun playing together!
Luke and Nash eating breakfast -- I love how they have the same expressions on their cute little faces!
Checking each other out
After all the boys went to bed I enjoyed visiting with Nikki and Allen so much -- the only thing that was missing was Rob (who had a wonderful weekend working an Emmaus walk). I meant to take a picture of Nikki and me while we were together this weekend, but when you are chasing around 4 little boys, that is hard to do, so I found this one from last years Egg Bowl (our smiling faces indicate the fabulous victory we had over Ole Miss!!).

We love this sweet family and can't wait for them to come back and visit again VERY soon!!!!

Painting project -- yay or nay?

I have a room in my house that we call the computer room -- Reed calls it the "puter" room
(and while we are on that subject, he calls the dining room, "the diamond room" -- where we store all of our precious jewels...ha)

Anyway, Laura was redoing her living room and was getting rid of this:
I traded her a rug I had that matched her kitchen perfectly so we traded the rug for the above piece!

There is also a old pie safe in that room (see below) -- and I have painted the lime green squares (which are punched tin) Blue. The actual color is Sherwin Williams Halcyon Green (thank you Em for the color suggestion!):

On another blog I follow, she had painted an armoire the same color and I loved the way it turned out! I'm still debating, but eventually I want to turn this room into a play room for the boys so I thought the blue would be fun. Plus, with wood on the walls AND the floor, I wanted this piece to have some color. This room has always housed and will continue to keep a lot of my Neshoba County Fair art and prints, which are very colorful and fun.

So, to paint or not to paint...that is the question?
I've already bought the paint -- got a little over eager -- so I may be painting this weekend?!?!
